Services:
  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown, MD. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.

Visitation:
  Public Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers be held at 7:00 PM.
  Jean Nelson Owens, 61 of Hughesville, MD, formerly of Coltons Point, MD, died April 4, 2004 in Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born February 6, 1943 in Leonardtown, MD she was the daughter of the late Virginia Hall Nelson and William Albert Nelson. She was the loving wife of James (Duffy) Owens whom she married July 22, 1961 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. She was the devoted mother of Karen Jean Smith and James (Jay) Owens of Waldorf, MD and Malcolm (Mack) D. Owens of Mechanicsville, MD. She was the sister of Eleanor Williams of Hughesville, MD, William A. Nelson of Avenue, MD, Sharon Lee Palmer of Bushwood, MD and the late Gloria Ann Tippett and J.C. Nelson. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren. Mrs. Owens graduated in 1961 from Margaret Brent High School and retired in 1985 after 6 years of service from Keller Bus Services as a bus driver. She enjoyed playing cards, crabbing and being with her family. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 - 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wedndesday, April 7, 2004 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Church of Bryantown with Father Joseph Kleinstuber officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mrs. Owens will be Greg Tippett, Dyke Tippett, Earn Burch, Wayne McInturff, Tommy Nelson and Mike Gardiner.
