Services:

  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 11335 Coltons Point Road, Avenue, MD with Msgr. John Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bushwood, MD.

Visitation:

  Public Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers being held at 7:00 PM.
  Constance Ann Raley Westbrook, 51, passed away on April 10, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was one of five children born to Lorraine and Fred Wood of Mechanicsville, Maryland. She was married to Geoff Westbrook and she has three sons, Adam, John Castle and (the late) Benjamin Raley, and a step-son Geoffrey Westbrook. Connie graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1970 and received her BS from the University of Maryland in 1985, where she graduated with top honors. She taught many of St. Mary's finest at Holy Angels-Sacred Heart School before she began her career with the U. S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. While at the U.S. Department of Education she served the American people through her passion for teaching. She worked with the external training office to ensure that Postsecondary Colleges and Universities receive the training they need to administer the Student Financial Aid programs. Connie's family and friends will treasure her memories. She is survived by her husband, Geoff Westbrook, her sons, Adam and John Castle Raley; her step-son Geoffrey Westbrook; her parents â?? Lorraine and Fred Wood; her sisters â?? Geneva Coombs and Nettie Harding; her brothers â?? James (Jay) Wood and Ray (Ernie) Wood; her sister-in-laws â?? Jill Wood, Janet Delgado, Laura Applegate, Sharon Starrett, and Suesan Dent; and her brother-in-laws â?? John Leon, Robert Applegate, Gordon Starrett, and Tony Dent. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and many super friends. Pallbearers are Adam Raley, Casey Raley, Jay Coombs, Matthew Wood, Ben Harding and John Leon. Connie was a member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association, a former member/President of Parents without Partners and a former member of the Abell's Diner Women's Softball Team. She enjoyed scrap booking, making specialty greeting cards and making/decorating grapevine wreaths. The family will receive guests at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home located in Leonardtown, MD on Wednesday, April 14 from 5-8 with prayers at 7 PM.
